Unit 3 Family matters

Sally: Hey Rick, have you seen my laptop computer? I can't find it anywhere.

Rick: Your laptop? I borrowed it to do my school project. It's in my room.

Sally: (annoyed) Rick, I said you could borrow it tomorrow, on Wednesday! Not today! I need it to do my homework now.

Rick: (apologetically) I'm really sorry. I thought today was Wednesday! I'll get it now…

Sally: And what about those maths books I let you borrow?

Rick: Maths books? Oh no… I forgot all about them. I left them in my locker at school!

Sally: Dear me, Rick! You really are very forgetful!

Rick: I apologise, really I do. But don't worry! I'll bring them back tomorrow, right after school!

Sally: OK. It's a good thing I don't need them right away. But please don't forget again.

Rick: I won't! Oh, Sally, you're the best big sister in the world! And also… umm… well…

Sally: (skeptically) “Best big sister…?” What do you want this time, Rick?

Rick: Well, I haven't got any money right now. Can you lend me some money, please?

Sally: Why didn't you ask Mum or Dad to let you have some pocket money in advance?

Rick: I did! I asked Mum last night. But she was busy and she told me to ask her again this morning. And…

Sally: Don't tell me, Rick. You forgot to ask again!

Rick: (embarrassed) Yes, I… I forgot.

Sally: (laughing affectionately) Well, I was right about you being forgetful, wasn't I? Never mind. We all forget things sometimes. Just not as often as you do! Here's some money. You can pay me back next week.

Rick: Thanks, Sally! You really are…

Sally: I know! The world's best big sister!
