 1 Air Rage — Basic Story

People that work for airlines say that air rage is a growing problem. Air rage is when a passenger on a plane gets
mad and starts acting badly. This is a problem that needs to be fixed for the safety of everyone on the plane.
Sometimes angry passengers yell at the flight attendants. Flight attendants have had food thrown at them. Some
of them have even been grabbed and hit.
It can be dangerous to have a passenger that is out of control on a plane. The safety of the workers and
passengers can be in jeopardy. Airline workers want something to be done to protect everyone.
Workers want the airlines to train them better to deal with angry passengers. They also want to have equipment
available to restrain abusive passengers. They hope that these things could help protect themselves and
everyone on the plane.
Punishment for acting badly on a plane is getting stricter. People that assault an airline worker will be fined a lot
of money. They can even be put in prison for up to 20 years.

 2 Air Rage — Full Story

You've probably heard horror stories about obnoxious airline passengers. Maybe you've even been on a plane
with one. On Thursday, airline employees at Sacramento International Airport joined others around the world to
call attention to a problem they say can be dangerous.
It's called "air rage." It includes everything from throwing food at flight attendants to grabbing them or shouting
at them. There were 500 reports of such behavior last year, according to one airline workers' union.
Workers want the airlines to provide better training and restraint equipment. They also want the public to know
about the problem.
There are hefty fines in place for assaulting an airline crew member. In fact, the maximum penalty has risen
from $1,100 to $25,000. Disrupting a flight can bring a prison term of up to 20 years and a fine of $250,000.
